About this object
This image of M17 is a hybrid image taken with 6 filters. 1 Hr of Red, Green, and Blue was combined with 6hrs of Hydrogen Alpha, 6hrs OIII and 3.8hrs of SII using the method where the light gathered by each filter is assigned a spectral value to produce a color image. This technique was presented by Debra Ceravolo in the Dec 2011 edition of Sky and Telescope.
