About this object
This image of the Helix Nebula was taken from my backyard during the new moon period in Oct 2010. 7 hrs of luminance and 4hrs of color data was combined to produce this color image. In the full size image, many faint galaxies can be seen in the background to magnitude 19. The Helix is listed as magnitude 7.3 and close to 15arcmin in size. Its one of the brightest and closest planetary nebula in the sky. For more information on the Helix nebula see this link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helix_Nebula
