About this object

IC405 is also known as the Flaming Star Nebula and Caldwell 31. It is a emission and reflection nebula lit up by the star AE Aurigae, the bright star near the center of the image. IC 405 is in the constellation Auriga and is approximately 1,500 light years distant.
Image details:
This image was taken at the 2017 Winter Star Party in the FL Keys and is comprised of 90min of Red, Green and Blue images along with 90min of Hydrogen Alpha. The image was processed in PixInsight.
Processing details:
1. The individual subframes were calibrated using the PixInsight preprocessing script.
2. Image integration was used to create the individual masters.
3. The masters were combined in image integration to create a synthetic luminance image.
4. Deconvolution was applied to the synthetic luminance
6. A RGB image was created using channel combination
7. Background neutralization and color calibration was applied to the image
8. A HaRGB image was made using the NBLRGB script
9. Noise reduction was applied to the synthetic luminance and HaRGB image using multi scale linear transform
10. A SynLHaRGB image was produced using the LRGB combination process
11. Further noise reduction was applied using TGV denies
12. Color saturation was enhanced
13. Curves were applied to taste
