Comet C2012 S1 ISON
About this object
On 1 Oct Comet ISON will pass Mars at a distance of 10.5 million KM, closer than it will ever get to earth. This view taken just prior to sunrise on Sat 28 Sep shows ISON as still a fairly dim object. This image is a combination of three 5min exposures taken at 356mm with a 80mm Stellarvue APO refractor just as the comet cleared the walls of my observatory.
