Area around NGC 2477 in Puppis
About this object
This is an image of the area around NGC 2477, an open star cluster in the constellation Puppis which is in the southern winter Milky Way taken with a Canon 60Da and camera lens at 100mm focal length. NGC 2477 is the star cluster near the center of the image. There are a huge number of other objects within the image. The bright blue star near the lower center left is the star Naos shining at magnitude 2.25. Just above and right of NGC 2477 around the bright orange star is the object NGC 2451 another open star cluster. Dark lanes of obscuring dust and background emission nebulosity (red) also is prevalent in the image.
