About this object
The Blue Horse Head nebula, also known as IC4592 is a reflection nebula that reflects blue light from the star system Nu Scorpii near the horses eye, center in the image. Another reflection nebula, IC 4601, can be seen near the upper right. These are all part of a large molecular cloud of dust in the constellation Scorpius that looks like a horse’s head. This image was taken at the 2018 Texas Star Party in Ft Davis, TX with a Stellarvue SVQ 86 refractor and SBIG STL 11K full format ccd camera. Its comprised of around 400min of exposure time under extremely dark skies.
