About this object
NGC 2440 is a planetary nebula in the constellation Puppis. Its fairly bright with a magnitude of 9.4. The central star of the planetary, HD 62166 is one of the hottest white dwarfs known with a surface temp of nearly 200,000 degrees. NGC 2440 lies 4,000 light years distant.
This image was taken with my 10” f5 Astrograph and QSI 583WSG camera using Red, Green, and Blue along with Hydrogen Alpha and Oxygen III filters binned 1x1. It combines 410min of exposure time.
