VdB 38, Sh2-263, The Raspberry Nebula

About this object

Sh2-263 and VdB 38 is also known as the Raspberry nebula. It lies in the Constellation Orion. It consists of an emission (Sh2-263) and reflection nebula (VdB 38). I imaged this object within a much wider field of view in 2018 using a 70mm refractor http://www.starscapeimaging.com/Sh2-263_Sh2-265.html. This time around I was looking for a higher resolution view and used my 6" Stellarvue refractor. The higher resolution brought out the delicate wisps of blue reflection which glow blue reflecting off the mag 5.78 star SAO 112667 near the center of the image. This area is also full of dust and faint hints of it can be seen around the image. The image is a composite mixing a Ha filtered image with the broadband LRGB image.
