About this object
Lynds Dark Nebula 1251 (LDN 1251) is a dark molecular cloud region in the constellation Cephus. It's an active star forming region. Thick clouds of molecular dust hid a lot of the background stars although several large background galaxies are visible through the dust. LDB 1251 is also known as the "Rotten Fish Nebula" and is about 1000 light years distant.
